26. Port NcNeill (Sointula)

Another night with heaters on - nice! We wanted to explore Sointula and decided the Ferry was the easier option than taking the boat across, re-anchoring, and worrying about the anchorage.

Sointula is a pretty little town with a unique history. We walked along the foreshore checking out the old houses and marine ways, got some organic produce from a honesty-box by the side of the road (some delicious broccoli) and checked out the Coop store. The store had a pretty good selection of food and produce and is a good option for supplies if Port NcNeill is too far off the route.

There is a museum a block or two north of the Ferry dock which is also worth visiting - some good local history, which due to the Finnish connection makes it unique from other local museums around the central coast.

The return ferry has us back to Port NcNeill by late afternoon. Nice to have someone else driving for a change!

We upped anchor and took the trawler across the bay to Port NcNeill to top up the diesel and water in preparation for heading south tomorrow.
