Once fuelled and watered up we headed back across to the Broughtons for a few days.
We upped anchor at 7:30 to a beautiful morning - calm and sunny. Don't know how I managed it but I got stung by a wasp on the head when pulling up the anchor. Ouch!
We planned for some Halibut fishing at George Bank, having read on a posting somehwere it was a good spot (and everything on the internet is accurate). We got there about 9:30 after running through miles of seaweed in the tide lines. We gave fishing a half-hearted try, dropping a single line in about 300' of water to the west of one of the pinnacles. There was still a little bit of current and we snagged badly once. After getting the line freed we tried again, only to snag badly again after ~15 minutes. A bit too much like hard work and the current was only going to strengthen so we called it a day and headed for Eden Island as the clouds started rolling in. Maybe next time we will try the ~200' bank 0.5 - 0.7 miles to the SW.
We had stayed in Lady Boot Cove before so wanted to try the south side of the island. We tucked into Joe's Cove at 12:30 in 40' of water with one other boat in the cove. We had a very nice kayak around the cove, including hiding from the rain under overhanging trees. The dock in the SE nook is in really bad shape with a Parks sign condemning it and warning to stay off. A smaller pocket cruiser tied up to it for the night later on, so it is still possible.
We toured the midden around the islet 1/2 way down the cove. It lookes like a great kayak camping spot. A BBQ on a nice calm evening closed out the day.
