11. Pruth Bay. Archaeological sites, and the fog starts rolling in

Just before we departed on the trip a series of articles were published about the archeological digs around Calvert Island, and that site EjTa4 may have some of the oldest footprints in North America.

Intrigued, a bit of Google searching turned up a lot of information.

We visited EjTa4 in the dinghy. The digs were not active and had all been temporarily covered over - I suppose to stop curious people like ourselves from falling in! All the Culturally Modified Trees (CMT) from the maps could be seen. The feeling of standing were people had lived for over 10,000 years was amazing.

Early evening the fog started drifting in from the ocean, and with it the temperature dropped quickly to a low of 52F. Looking down Kwakshua channel inland one could see it was still blue sky there. I expect it was still hot too.
