Our Happy Canada Day start including sleeping in - no 5:30 start for a change! :)
Most of the boats left the anchorage early leaving us almost alone. A nice morning chilling in the sun. Up anchor at 12:00 right after a group from the Burrard Yacht Club came in (including another Gulf Commander) - I guess the day's group from rounding Cape Caution early. An easy and sunny run up Fitz Hugh sound to Fish Egg Inlet. Anchor down at 2:00 in Joe's Bay, with one other boat already there. We drop in 65' of water with reasonable holding. No stern tie required, although with more boats one might elect to do so.
We check out Elizabeth Lagoon and it is pretty cool. Don't think I would want to run it in a dinghy although there are articles and postings about doing so. We were content to observe from the bay.
If you click on the Google Map link, then really zoom in on Joe's Bay you can see the rapids to Elizabeth Lagoon ebbing hard, with 'bergy bits' streaming into Joe's Bay. Cool!

We take the dinghy to explore Waterfall Inlet. A bit narrow to get in but no major problems, even for the larger boat. We don't see any evidence of anyone or anything ever being there - totally unspoiled. In behind the islets on the NW corner looked like a very nice anchorage. Didn't check the bottom but it is so sheltered it probably would not matter. It might be one of the greatest misnomers of the trip though - fairly low-bank with not a waterall in sight. Maybe due to the dry summer?....

Our 1st try at Prawning was not a great success. We dropped the traps out side in 180' of water - the deepest we could get without a longer trip than we were willing. I typically go for 300'. Skunked, and the theory is due to being too shallow. (Certainly could not be lack of skill!)
